Depending on the damage done, how the muscle was torn, and how much blood was still in the amputated part, it may have been able to be reattached.

That's why you don't wear loose fitting clothes around a lathe or any other moving parts. And of course this is in SE Asia where the workplace safety conditions are crap. In the USA there would be a guard around that spinning shaft, and he wouldn't have been allowed to wear that style of shirt.
And yea, going to be using his left hand for everything now.
I prefer my left hand sometimes. I'll put rubber bands around my wrist until it goes numb, wear a ladies' watch and give myself the back hand. Look down and pretend its a chick's hand. I call it the ultimate stranger.
